    Position Title: Project Monitor

    ___________________________________________________________________________________

    Department: Gallia County Economic Development

    Reports to: Project Manager

    Classification: Classified – Part Time Employee

    Up to 40 hrs/week but Actual weekly hours may vary due to schedule, weather, and working conditions.

    Pay: $17.00/ hour

    Probation Period: 12 months

     

    *Length of Employment is directly related to funding availability of the National Dislocated Worker Grant (NDWG).

    The primary responsibilities of the Project Monitor include coordination and monitoring of onsite activities of the Program Participants engaged in the removal of trees and debris from Gallia County creeks, streams and roadways. Other responsibilities include ensuring the safety, leadership, and productivity of the work crews and the satisfactory completion of the work on each job site in a timely and professional manner.

     

    Minimum Qualifications:

    The Project Monitor is expected to have the following minimum qualifications and characteristics:

    1. High School Diploma

    2. Strong work ethic

    3. Punctual, reliable and willing to accept responsibility

    4. Strong communication, leadership and people-management skills

    5. Good mechanical aptitude

    6. Ability to work outdoors under varied and adverse weather conditions

    7. Ability to read plat book and maps

    8. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

    9. Ability to stand for extended periods of time

    10. Ability to bend, squat, and kneel

    11. Ability to operate and work with various tools and power equipment

    12. Must pass following checks and licensing requirements

    a. Background Check

    b. Drug Screen

    c. Driving Record

    d. Valid Driver’s License and Proof of Insurance

    e. Reference Check

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

     

    1. Prior experience in a managerial or supervisory position

    2. Prior experience in tree trimming or related field with working knowledge of operating power equipment including: saws, trimmers, and chippers

    3. Working knowledge of proper equipment use, safety and maintenance

    4. Passenger CDL Certification a plus

     

     

    Responsibilities:

    1. Monitors Program Participants engaged in the removal and disposal of branches, trees, and debris. Also performs work associated with tree and debris removal.

    2. Monitors and directs the work crews in all on site activities and provides a cordial work environment.

    3. Monitors crew members’ attendance and punctuality, keeping daily work records and time sheets of crew members. 

    4. Operate trucks, loaders, wood chippers, power saws, and other equipment and tools.

    5. Clean sharpen, and lubricate tools and equipment.

    6. Models professional behavior and attitude for the work crew and facilitates their adherence to high work standards.

    7. Meets regularly with the program’s Project Manager to ensure the specific job requirements are clear and understood. 

    8. Directs the work crew in preparing the necessary equipment, tools and supplies necessary to complete the day’s work.

    9. Ensures the cleanliness, serviceability and safety of the tools and equipment.

    10. Ensures that crew members are wearing the appropriate safety equipment and are practicing safe conduct on the job.

    11. Assigns specific tasks to the Crews

    12. Inspects work performed at the job site

    13. Directs cleanup at the job site and ensures all equipment, tools and supplies are secured.

    14. Performs other duties as directed by the Project Manager.
